AFTER a very pleasant vacation at the Stebe house, it’s time for the Picaroons to return to sea. It has been delightful to spend a bit of time with the comforts of land (the internet is a marvelous thing), and we all feel recharged and ready to get on with it.
There was no damage or loss from the storm, which was something of a non-event in Hamburg Cove: winds barely topped 40 knots. The water got pretty high, but that’s not a problem for a moored boat, really. We now have a couple of days to put back the sails and canvas and get ourselves ready to sail–the Connecticut River is still high, and full of debris washed down by the rains, so we will stay put for a couple more days, not a chore in such a lovely spot.
Then, we head out of Long Island Sound, through Block Island Sound, into Buzzards Bay, through the Cape Cod Canal and over to Wellfleet Harbor on the Cape, where we plan to meet up with the Road Schooners and some other fambly.
Thanks again to Stebe, Snowbe and Mira for our stay in their lovely house in Manchester, and to Lucy the cat for the loan of one of her litterboxes.
