Things We’ve Learned #3: Showers

We took showers for granted on land.  Hot showers are an AMAZING thing.  Don’t take them for granted.  Even though we’re lucky to have an actual shower stall and hot water when we run the engine, in reality we rarely run the engine and it’s a huge pain in the butt to clear out the shower stall, which is our laundry room/wet locker/cat box storage area.  And it takes a ton of water, so if we aren’t in a place where water is easy to get, we try not to use the real shower much.  So instead we jump in the sea to wash then rinse off with the sun shower.  A real shower is a once-a-week treat, and even then, it’s a few seconds to get wet and a few seconds to get dry.  Last time I had a real shower was in January; I almost fainted from the pleasure of standing for a full minute under a stream of hot water.  Of course, I then HAD to turn the water off to soap up, because of my now totally ingrained and maniacal inability to let water go to waste.  Sigh.
